[feb 12] block printing on fabric: moons of winter

$88.00
sold out

5:30-8:30pm

Celebrate the magic of the winter full moon with the whimsical art of block printing. Local artist Caitlin Digman MacDougall of @root_n_wing_studio  will teach you how to carve your own simple stamps, and then print them onto fabric with fabric inks. You will use your hand carved design to create a winter moon wall hanging.

Caitlin will guide students through special considerations for printing on fabric and how to transfer simple, premade leaf designs to a rubber carving medium using the acetone transfer method. You will leave this class with a set of some reusable, rubber leaf blocks, a decorative autumn banner, and the basic skills that you will need to keep printing on fabric on your own. All levels welcome, printmaking experience is helpful, but not necessary. Appropriate for ages 14+.

please note
This class has a maximum sign-up of eight (8) participants. At this time, due the amount of pre-planning, nature of a workshop environments and with respect to our instructor, we can not issue refunds on workshop registrations. about caitlin

Caitlin is an artist and educator with a passion for where art meets ecology. She moved to Carson City from Iowa in 2021. After the dust settled, she was eager to get back to artmaking, and find a new sense of place. Root N’ Wing Studio became an outlet for Caitlin to learn about local ecology, create unique everyday items with her original artwork, and meet lots of great people in the process. She prints mostly on cloth items, such as shirts, bandanas, scarves, and accessories, and sews many of her works as well. These pieces are for sale via local markets, pop-ups, a couple local stores, and Caitlin’s often neglected website, www.rootnwingstudio.com. When she is not making art, Caitlin loves trail running with her dog, gardening, and rock climbing with her family.
