This workshop will help you learn how to get started on your knitting journey. The session is primarily focused on learning how to cast-on and the two basic stitches, knit and purl, that provide the foundation for everything else.

Information about yarn, needles, and patterns will also be covered. This class is designed for the person who is brand new to knitting or the knitter who put their needles down long ago. All supplies are provided.

Knitters are encouraged to stay after for Fiber Folks Group immediately following the workshop from 7-9pm.

Sara Garey-Sage is a historian turned creative. After a lengthy stint in grad-school, she started Desert Sage Collective in 2022 and joined the Atelier team in 2023. She also is a founding member of the Great Basin Fibershed, which seeks to identify, establish, and bolster regional textile economies in Nevada. Passionate about sustainable textiles, local wool, and quality that lasts, Sara is a knitter, quilter, embroiderer, and felter.
