$90.00

5:30-8:30 pm

Celebrate the unfurling of spring with the whimsical art of block printing, taught by Caitlin (@root_n_wing_studio). In this class, participants will carve their own stamps, and learn how to print them onto fabric with special fabric inks.

First, you will learn how to transfer simple premade botanical designs to rubber using the acetone transfer method. Next, you will learn to carve using linoleum cutting tools. Caitlin will provide tips for carving effectively. Lastly, we will cover printing on fabric and you will learn some simple tips to print on fabric successfully.

Participants will leave this class with a set of reusable rubber blocks, a fat-quarter of fabric or tea towel - printed with your artwork, and the basic skills that you will need to keep printing on fabric on your own.

This workshop is suitable for ages 14+. All levels welcome, some printmaking experience is helpful, but not necessary.

about Caitlin

Caitlin is an artist and educator with a passion for where art meets ecology. She moved to Carson City from Iowa in 2021. After the dust settled, she was eager to get back to artmaking, and find a new sense of place. Root N’ Wing Studio became an outlet for Caitlin to learn about local ecology, create unique everyday items with her original artwork, and meet lots of great people in the process. She prints mostly on cloth items, such as shirts, bandanas, scarves, and accessories, and sews many of her works as well. These pieces are for sale via local markets, pop-ups, a couple local stores, and Caitlin’s often neglected website, www.rootnwingstudio.com. When she is not making art, Caitlin loves trail running with her dog, snowboarding, gardening, and rock climbing with her family.
